About GCAS

The Garforth Community Arts School, otherwise known as GCAS, was established in October 2003 out of Garforth Arts College's specialist arts status. We have one simple aim, and that is to provide access to high quality arts provision to as many people as possible.

GCAS is still based at Garforth Community College (Lidgett Lane, Garforth, Leeds) and operates biweekly on Saturday mornings, 8:45am-12:25pm, and Wednesday evenings, 4:00pm - 8:30pm, during school term time.

The classes are open to anyone wishing to take part from across Leeds, Wakefield and the surrounding areas, although some of the groups may have entry criteria based on mimumum and maximum ages or levels of competency and ability.

All of the groups within GCAS work with professional artists who are performers in their chosen field. We place a high emphasis on regular performance and recording with each group.

A list of the groups which make up GCAS can be seen to the left. Please click on one of the groups to learn more about it.
